Sword Art Online in the Eyes of Asuna – SAO:Progressive Anime Film Premiering in 2021
Last September, Sword Art Online: War of the Underworlds Part 2 aired its last episode concluding the whole anime series — from Kirito’s perspective, at the least. On that finale, we also got a glimpse of the Sword Art Online: Progressive teaser trailer.
Check it out in this article.
Sword Art Online Official twitter tweeted:
The light novel series, as we know it, will be released as an anime film by A-1 Pictures entitled Sword Art Online Progressive THE MOVIE: Aria of a Starless Night which will be premiering in Japanese theaters this coming 2021.
At the same time, SAO’s twitter account tweeted a new visual of the anime film.
We’ll see a new perspective of where it all started. A point of view where Asuna leads the way instead of Kirito. Will new secrets start to unveil from her eyes? We’ll be finding out about that in the movie.
The movie covers the first book of the light novel series Sword Art Online: Progressive, a series released in 2012 that retells the Reki Kawahara’s story. Yen Press is publishing the english version of the light novels and describes the first book as:
One month has passed since Akihiko Kayaba’s deadly game began, and the body count continues to rise. Two thousand players are already dead.
Kirito and Asuna are two very different people, but they both desire to fight alone. Nonetheless, they find themselves drawn together to face challenges from both within and without. Given that the entire virtual world they now live in has been created as a deathtrap, the surviving players of Sword Art Online are starting to get desperate, and desperation makes them dangerous to loners like Kirito and Asuna. As it becomes clear that solitude equals suicide, will the two be able to overcome their differences to find the strength to believe in each other, and in so doing survive?
